Drive Shaft
Drive shafts are also known as constant velocity axle or CV axle for short. You will usually find two of these at the front of your car, connected to your car wheels and the gearbox.
When engine is switched on, drive shafts takes the power from the gearbox and transfer them to the wheels. This makes your wheels rotate so that your car moves forward.
Steering Rack
Steering rack are usually power-assisted steering that are powered by either hydraulic or electric. Every car has a steering rack. You can’t see it, but they are found below your dashboard, connected to both the front wheels.
Steering rack helps you steer your car. When you turn the steering wheels, it engages the gears inside of the steering rack. It takes that rotational motion of the steering wheel and translate it into a left or right movement on the car wheels.
Steering Pump
Steering pump are also called power steering pump. If your car runs on hydraulic power steering rack, you definitely have a steering pump. You will find it next to your engine, with the engine belt attached to its pulley.
Steering pump purpose is to supply pressurized hydraulic fluid into a specific part of the hydraulic steering rack. The difference in fluid pressure creates a pushing force that gives us the power assist that helps make steering our car effortless.
