Like other Perodua models, the SR, SX and SXi were five-speed manual transmission, while the EZ and EZi models were 4-speed automatic transmission. These features include Pre-Collision Braking (PCB), Front Departure Alert (FDA) and Pedal Misoperation Control (PMC). The FDA is interesting in that it can monitor the motion of car in front of you. It alerts you that the car in front of you has begun moving. This is especially helpful when you are stuck in slow-moving traffic.

The MyVi brand is the heart of the Perodua company. It is what made Perodua the car manufacturing company of Malaysia. Prior to MyVi, Proton has the highest market share in the Malaysian market. When 2005 came, the Proton Savvy was intended to compete directly against MyVi. Overall sales from both Proton Savvy and Perodua MyVi showed that MyVi was the preferred of Malaysians. This led to the end of production of the Proton Savvy brand in 2011. Perodua MyVi paved the way for Perodua to be the car leader in Malaysia ahead of Proton.

Comparison between the first variants to the latest model highlights the significant improvements in terms of safety, overall aesthetic, in-car accessories and engine performance from latter Daihatsu engine.
